Ongoing Project—Signage Task Force

Over the last nearly two years, I co-led a task force to solve the following problem. The project has gone through several phases.

Problem

There was considerable variation in the exterior and interior signage from one ProHealth practice to another. This resulted in patient confusion, variation in messaging and branding, and in many cases, unprofessional looking signage. In order to ensure ProHealth’s practices sites appear more uniformly and professionally branded and professional looking, we needed to standardize signage in a more definitive way. In addition, with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, it became apparent that the process of developing, ordering, and providing guidance to our practices about signage in a timely manner was not sustainable.

Objective

Phase 1: We created a catalog of all available signage for our practice sites to order via an internal ordering portal on our company intranet site. Signs were streamlined to align with brand standards, starting with COVID-19 signage as that was where the need was most prevalent.

Phase 2: We have collaborated with our print vendor to develop a fully-functioning online marketing and signage storefront so that, not only could our practices could order signage and marketing materials more easily, but there would be significantly less manual work on the back end. The goal is to simplify the ordering process overall. The portal launched in January of 2022 and we continue to make adjustments and improvements, as needed, to ensure a smooth experience for all users.

Phase 3: Our goal is to ensure ease of access to all branded materials our practice sites will need to order—not just signage. We have begun the process of adding all marketing materials to the portal, including brochures, decals, booklets, etc. To accommodate this phase, we have named the portal the “ProHealth Physicians Marketing & Signage Portal.”
