A friend of mine ran the Rough Around the Edges Annual Art Show and Charity Auction each year. I had the honor of designing a poster for the charity’s sixth annual event, encouraging guests to follow the Rough Around the Edges Instagram and Twitter handles and share photos using the event hashtag. The logo was incredibly unique and I wanted to incorporate that into the design somehow, without making it too much. I played around with a few different designs, one of which was the reverse of this—where the logo was in red at the bottom of the poster so all of the stacks and wheels were cutting into the white, but it was too busy. I wanted a cleaner design. Ultimately, I chose to flip it and knock the logo out in white and move it to the top of the page so that you are seeing just the suggestion of the bottom of logo design cutting into the red in the middle of page, but it’s not overkill. I kept the pallet simple red, white, and black.
